For a few years I've been the custodian of a native stingless beehive. Every so often you can split these hives and harvest some of the very special honey they produce. Plus you then end up with two hives!
This video shows the process and intricacy of the hive structure. This species, Tetragonula carbonaria, are sometimes called sugarbag bees because of the storage pots they make around the central, helical comb structure.
Big thanks to Ian from https://www.agreensoul.com.au for your expertise and knowledge! I highly recommend Ian for anyone in Brisbane who wants to get into this or learn more!
Music by Tigers and Emperors (justifiably used seeing as 3/5 band members were actually present - perhaps we need to write a song about the little buggers!)
