The Final Lap

I had a a very special opportunity this last week. The Drone Nationals was not only a chance for the best of the best to compete in a new and exciting way but I also had the priviledge of flying in the company of those who I admire and have inspired me. These same people I also have the privelidge of calling my friends. It was an honour to not only finally meet those who I consider my friends in person for the first time but fly with all of them as well.

This flight will always remain very special to me as I was lucky enough to have all my ducks line up in row at the right time and do quite well in the comp on the day in question by winning it all. The main reason though was I finally successfully managed to get all those top pilots together after the racing was finished away from the media, away from the stress of racing and enjoying the reason we all do this in the first place, because we all are passionate about simply flying for the love of it and hanging out with our mates and laughing our heads off. Among others there was Charpu, Ummagawd, Moke, Mr. Steele, Trappy, Mark, Dominic Clifton (Hydra), Pshaw and AWDquads. Pretty much the who’s who of the mini quad world.

After knowing I had won the Nationals I was told I needed to stay at the field and wait for the awards ceremony which was happening soon but instead I rounded up the guys and we sneaked away to a random park and just flew our arses off until the very last moment before rushing back to arrive only 10 minutes before the ceremony.

I knew this flight was going to be my last flight in America before flying home so I strapped on my GoPro and just flew for myself, nothing extreme, nothing new or exciting but just being an extension of me and celebrating the fact that the last week was the most memorable thing that has ever happened to me.

I can only say thank you to all of you for the amazing memories and can’t wait to see what the future holds. There is too many names to mention here but I would be remiss not to mention just a few. Mark, thank you for coming on this adventure with me that started about 12 months ago. Brian and Sean, thank you for working your butts off to get your new frame in my hands to take with me. Anthony and Greg, thank you for being the ones who gave me this opportunity in the first place. I hope I lived up to your expectations. A new world awaits so lets go get it...

Special thanks to those who helped me get to the Drone Nationals
