Stuck for 2 days - and how we got business class | Hawaii

Our flight has been cancelled and the airline wasn't keeping up with this. They made us stay 2 extra days, forgot about informing the hotel about it. And gave us 12$ a day for food in 5 star hotel they put us in.
How this one finished? Well... We got a business class flight home after a day. How?
