An after-dark story and flight video. Some of you guys left questions on my last vlog about flying at night, so thought it'd be good to do another night flight. Finding a really well lit place is key, and the spot we flew here wasn't as good as I had hoped. I kept the ISO limit at 800 to reduce noise, but the footage might have benefitted from raising the limit to 1600. I usually find that when the ISO gets high, the noise is so bad the footage is unusable, a limit of 800 prevents that but things are definitely darker. I did use Adobe Premier Pro to bump up the overall brightness and crush the black a bit.
Here are the GoPro settings I used:
Resolution: 1080p
FOV: SuperView
fps: 30 fps
ProTune: ON
White Balance: Auto
Color: GoPro Color (if I was going to spend more time color correcting like I would a dedicated flight edit, I would use flat)
ISO limit: 800 (again might have been better to raise it for the location I flew at)
Sharpness: High
EV Comp: 0
If you have thoughts on better settings for night video, let me know! Always open to suggestions.
Thank you for watching, have a great week!
With Love,
Drew
