RedBull Oslea Hiride | The FPV Experience

I had the opportunity this past weekend to go and fly for RedBull Hiride 2019. This is a hike & ride event for skiers and snowboarders held up on a peak in the Romanian mountains, a wild area with no human intervention. The tricky part was hiking for approx 4km on 2m of snow with all the gear in the back and with temperatures around -22C. The big surprize was reserved at the end of the journey, on top of the mountain, where the wind was blowing with well over 40kmph making those -22C feel more like -40.
Even if I had a special winter transmitter glove the struggle was breathtaking from changing batteries to making the goggles work and wind blowing snow all over the gear in a matter of seconds not to mention eyebrows, beard, and hair freezing up. I even had a crash cause snow went inside the quad before takeoff and killing the video feed.
All in all, this was a unique experience and I would do it again for sure.
