MultiGP Rotor Riot International World Cup Drone Race - Part 3 Vlog

This is coverage of the Riot MultiGP International World Cup through Thomas’ eyes. I’ve left out qualifying and a few heats as the video was getting way too long. In short, Thomas ended up qualifying 5th fastest on the track and fastest 3 consecutive laps.

This was one very eventful day for us. It started off with both of us beginning to get sick, but we were both hoping it was just us losing our voices. First track was the Teams race. Massive shout out to Trappy for asking Thomas to join his team. The boys did a fantastic job but had a rough run and unfortunately didn’t qualify for the main teams race. Sadly considering we were going down hill at this stage this was probably a good thing as it allowed a little rest time.

After the teams race Thomas decided he liked my camera angle and decided to use the camera out of my Helix which meant he was going to be running the World Cup races with BMSPaul instead of BMSThomas on his camera. We did the change on the field and got it installed relatively painlessly.

The first race Thomas had was pretty good in that he had a good run and won, the next few races were pretty rough and fill with setbacks. The race was going to go into the night and we had no way of changing our camera settings on the day.

So in this video we jump to the top 8. In this race Thomas needed to finish 1, 2 or 3. He was leading most of the way but in the back straight YoungRock collided with Thomas while trying to overtake. unfortunately his battery strap got cut and the lipo ejected from the quad. So this meant the next race had to be a win.

Keep in mind, we’re both feeling pretty crap at this stage and its well after midnight and we’ve been up since 6am and got to bed late the previous night. If I remember correctly the World Cup race finished around 2am.

Cutting a long story short it all came together at the end with an Epic battle between McGap and Thomas.

I’ve also included some words from Chris Thomas post event reflecting on the MultiGP Riot IO

I have to thank the contributors to this video which included Niki (aufmschlau.ch), Aldo (instagram.com/telis.one/), Reese (MultiGP.com) and Paul Park. These guys went out of their way to get material to me and asked for nothing in return.

Anyway I hope you enjoy this super long video! I’ll probably do one more video just on the quads used for both the Spec and World Cup races.
