This series of lessons uses the free FPV Freerider simulator to teach a complete beginner how to fly an FPV multirotor in acro (no autoleveling) mode. You can learn to fly a quadcopter at home in front of your computer for almost no money. You can learn to fly without any fear of crashing and breaking an expensive toy. And yes, the things you learn here WILL translate over to real life.
How do you manage altitude? With the throttle? What if I told you the actual answer was with any combination of throttle, pitch, and roll? The reason a multirotor is so difficult to fly is that altitude, pitch, and roll are all intertwined with each other. This lesson presents an exercise that teaches you this relationship in a deep and intuitive way. Even if you are an experienced pilot, I think this lesson might blow your mind a little bit.
Here's the exercise: set the throttle and then manage altitude without touching the throttle. How do you do it?
