Friend of the Outer Limits and fellow 3D pilot Teracis has fixed a major bug plaguing 3D mode for almost the last year! If you’ve tried 3D out on BetaFlight with a machine that flew great only for it to fly horrible after enabling 3D, than this fix is for you! There was some legacy code left over in the mixer that was halving PID values for 3D mode, this caused major issues. This bug has affected ButterFlight and BetaFlight, and any fork of BetaFlight within the last year. Check out the pull request, if you’ve had this issue chime in @

The next version of BetaFlight and ButterFlight should incorporate this fix. To commemorate this, I’ll be creating a new how-to on setting up 3D mode on BetaFlight and BLHeli, including how to tune your ESC’s for best 3D performance. It’s exciting, BetaFlight and ButterFlight are close to surpassing KISS in 3D support, as there is still a bug that prohibits use of DSHOT and 3D on KISS hardware…. I hope it gets fixed shortly.

SparkyJosh in The Outer Limits chatroom captured some amazing slow-mo footage of the latest and greatest BetaFlight build using Z2010-2400kv Motors and GemFan 3D Master Props. It’s some breathtaking footage, and really shows how well the machine can fly with a proper 3D heli pilot at the sticks.
